hi,

after each emerge i get the following 'warning'

>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
* Caching service dependencies...
* Service 'vcron' already provide 'cron'!;
* Not adding service 'vixie-cron'...
* Services 'procparam' and 'checkroot' have circular
* dependency of type 'ibefore'; continuing... [ ok ]

i know that the vcron was renamed to vixie-cron, but where exactly do i have to fix that? and the other problem? whats going on here?

thanks for help
michael

Maybe you can look in your /var/cache/edb/virtuals and /var/cache/edb/world for some clues

ok thanks. i found it.

for the vcron there were simply two identically /etc/init.d/ scripts. getting rid of the old one and linking to the new one fixed that and the circular stuff was resolved with changing the procparam script as mentioned here: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-security.xml#doc_chap10

thanks again.

tomk pointed out that there are a lot of people having issues with this. The official solution thread is here: Minor service dependancy annoyance... Please post there for further assistance on this topic.

Moving from Portage and Programming.
