Hello everyone,
First post. Been using Gentoo for a few months now and boy has it made my life better (and arguably more fun). I was reading into Meshtastic and was wondering if anybody already got the firmware working under Gentoo. I'm gonna start this adventure this weekend.
Please do let me know if you are interested or are already working with it.

Welcome, I am not expert on meshtastic but I think its got potential, there is also a variant of it I forget what its called.
A friend gave me a tiny little Meashtastic device that connects to an app on my phone using bluetooth, the device quit working I should dust it off and see what wrong with it.
I have not looked into interfacing Meshtastic to Gentoo much.
I tend to run Gentoo on old servers so if I did I'd probably want to divide the 'metastatic radio' or in OSI terms the 'media layers' (or phy - link layers) from the 'host' layer or messaging sw stack. I'd put the 'radio' up on my roof, then run a hard line serial link to a Gentoo server and run some type of message queue like IMAP to store messages that come in. Sorta like a real cell phone tower and SMS.

Meshcore is the other one I've heard of, although I haven't tried either. Meshcore seems more efficient but needs infrastructure (so isn't as decentralised). Some hardware can have their firmware flashed to switch which one they use, so it's theoretically possible to try both without spending more.
FredER, did you have any joy?
