Is a 162 bytes excessive now? When prompted by the server with "general error", which didn't post, and attempting to re-post you're hit with the immediate delay cap, because these forums are too busy already... with no specifics on actual time delay to wait. Guessing at whatever that magic interval is and again trying, returns back to general error and the circle continues. I'm sure it maybe helps vs spam, but wow.

I realize you folks are in-transition here for awhile (years?), but maybe either report 500+ back and bring them down while doing maintenance breaking the things construction site style or give us something more clear, if at all possible, when these interactions occur. Because most people, particularly new and veterans alike, will just give up participating if this continues as-is.

Problem with pipewire, possibly dbus, after rm PulseAudio has a title that is nearly at the length limit. Attempting to respond with a subject of "Re: $original_title" can fail in that scenario. Such failure is due solely to the subject of the reply, not the length of its body. We've had multiple reports of this over the years. It's likely fixed in newer phpBB, and I am not aware of any plans to try to fix it in the current version.

i presume this limit is based on byte/octet count, and not e.g. grapheme count?

It has to do with phpBB2 html encoding special characters (turning 1 into 4 or more) and that gets saved to a length limited field in the database which does not check for size before saving
