I've been getting this since a few hours when I post a new replay. The replay is there though.

Stuck by NeddySeagoon. This issue started (for me) about 08:0AM 02-Feb-24. It's being worked on.

Another thing I noticed is I stopped receiving mails for new replies for threads I'm watching.

p.s. no, they aren't in spam.

This may be Gmail updates the way they handle incoming mails for their users. Though the title says GMail, the underlying Google blog post claims that Yahoo also is rejecting more mail than they once did.

Thanks for letting me know. Indeed, it's a Yahoo mail. But this message appear when I'm posting, right where there should be something like "your message has been entered successfully". And when I edit post, in fact the correct message appears.

I also get that error when replying to you, because it tries to e-mail you that I replied. I don't subscribe to e-mail notices about forum posts.

Thanks for explaining, but is this a correct behavior of the forum? It looks like it's the user's fault when the problem is somewhere else. Maybe a ticket upstream? /I don't think I know enough about this software to file it myself/

It is not a good behavior. I consider it unlikely that it will be fixed in the forum, due to the age of the current version. Hopefully, the error will cease when GMail resumes accepting mail from Gentoo, either because GMail recognizes how many small providers they are hurting or because the Gentoo SMTP team makes whatever changes GMail demands. Alternatively, perhaps Gentoo will simply ban GMail addresses until this can be sorted out. That seems unlikely.

I hadn't realized how old this forum software indeed is. Just peaked at their site, they are ending 3.2 support and this is 2.0, more than 20 years old...

I'm not sure the forum software has anything to do with this one, but it would be nice if it helped us get the big upgrade happen. ^^;

It most certainly has. It should not throw an error in the face of one user because it can't email another, for which the first user doesn't even care or can't do anything about.

I just received an email notification on my Yahoo email. Maybe they fixed their email servers or the Gentoo forums team changed something to improve the situation.

Yes indeed, there was something else going on as well, which was clear after having a better look at things.

At this time I don't know what exactly was changed to fix this one.
