|
|
I'm following the gentoo manual for the installation of kde. When I emerge kde everyting works fine untill the compilation of package 45 starts. I get the following error:
make: *** [all] Error 2
!!! ERROR: kde-base/kdemultimedia-3.1.4-r1 failed
!!! Function kde_src_compile, Line 137, Exitcode 2
!!! died running emake, kde_src_compile:make
Can somebody explain me why this happend and how I should fix it.

Just as a little "tongue in cheek" arsehole comment, I hope you get it sorted and that it doesn't take as long as my system took to "emerge kde", because you could have "knocked me down with a feather" when it took nearly 15 hours.
I can't help wondering, does it always take so long, I mean, I know that kde is what, about 170 megs or so, but hell 15 hours to download and compile, I was starting to get withdrawl symptoms
good luck

Unfortunally this didn't work
I also got some problems with my nvidia drivers, but my generic driver works fine. Could this be the problem ?
edit: Fixed the driver problem.

With:
!!! Function kde_src_compile, Line 137, Exitcode 2
!!! died running emake, kde_src_compile:make
type errors, sometimes updating these packages solves the problem- that's been my experience.
autoconf
automake
m4
It's worth a try.

heh.. there is hope for the future, gcc 3.4 will bring precompiled headers, which should dramatically speedup kde compiles (and other C++ apps like Mozilla and OOo) _________________ what up |
