I just finished getting Gentoo booting on an Apple G4 cube. Got to bless it with Holy Penguin Pee and all that. heh.
Anyways, I cant seem to get Xfree86 working at all. I've tried a bunch of stuff but I dont know what I am doing wrong.
I think i have followed the instructions here to the letter : http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml#doc_chap4
and all my config/dmesg/etc is here:
http://chris.ithought.org/gentoo/G4cube
I have tried using xf86config and xeasyconf, with the setup that is in there now i have to kill the xserver, and with a lot of the setups i tried and it just crashed and burned.
Any ideas from anyone? Thanks in advance...
[edit]xeasyconf says my video card is:
Code: |
BoardName "Rage 128 PF/PRO AGP 4x TMDS"
BusID "PCI:0:16:0"
|
and as far as I know its a 16 meg video card[/edit] _________________ http://ckdake.com/ |

Then it tells me that it can't find my mouse, so i edit the file, change the mouse line to /dev/usbmouse (which the mouse is) and type what it told me to:
Code: | #XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86Config.net |
This gives me the same error message that i was getting earlier,
Code: |
(++) Using config file: "/root/XF86Config.net"
Using vt 7
(EE) R128(0): Cannot read V_BIOS (5)
(EE) R128(0): No DFP detected
*** If unresolved symbols were reported above, they might not
*** be the reason for the server aborting

This makes me think its something wrong with my kernel stuff. _________________ http://ckdake.com/ |
