I recently installed Yahoo Messenger and found that there was no icon for it. So I made one. I hope the quality is acceptable for it to be considered for inclusion among Gentoo icons.

created an icon for the game 'Uplink' from introversion.

hosted here:

nevermind, apparently its being un-useful. I'll be reposting this as soon as I can find some free hosting that works.

Is there a simple way to get all these icons into a windowmanger theme?
kde gnome enlightment?

Also I just started using linux again.

I tried knoppix and it seemed to do a much better job of updating the menus and when it didn't do it automatically it found almost everything when I ran the kde application update tool.

I have gnome and kde on my system.

I can't be sure but the whole theme / menu thing worked better the last time I installed gentoo I emerged hde first that time then gnome

This time I emerged gnome, enlightenment, then kde

I don't know enough to tell but my system seems gnomish ...
Has anyone else had similar expereinces?

Also it never occured to me to type
emerge xfree gnome kde enlightment ?

Is that better?

system gnomish? nice :) appart from jokin (I yet like a gnomish system heh heh) what do u mean? the order u emerge DE or WM shouldnt really matter IMHO. for gnome if u want it to update the menu automatically install fam, about kde no idea... If not u can still edit menu ur way.... just google or forums search ;)
And about using these gentoo icons as a theme you would have to do a big job ;) just try and look how icon themes are organised (/usr/share/icons/)

anyone got any icons for thunderbird? one based on the firebird head would go nicely! i guess it would be based on

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jessica.da ... erbird.png

also, anyone, a ROX filer icon?

and, finally, being a non-gentoo (but a firm believer in fluxbox and idesk) i need a d4x (downloader for x) icon - l33t_UNK_3d.png is quite good but there are a few good starting points in /usr/share/d4x/themes

There was a request for a thunderbird icon. I made one so I thought I'd post it. I also created a firebird icon so that would fit in here fine. :-)

for thunderbird
http://www.eternium.de/temp/l33t_BRO_thunderbird.png

and firebird
http://www.eternium.de/temp/l33t_BRO_firebird.png

EDIT:

corrected filename for thunderbird
http://www.eternium.de/temp/l33t_MAI_thunderbird.png

an imagemagick icon? please!

by xy77
It isn't that hard to make those Icons oneself if you have gimp:

o grab the xcf-file from http://www.kraylus.com/best-base-l33t_flatfx.xcf
o open it with gimp
o open layer dialog
o select the layer containing the actual icon
o open the raw icon, e.g. thunderbird.png grabbed from about-screen in new window
o scale it to something around 38x38px
o insert it into that layer
o save as png

and don't forget to post the icon here :-)

imagemagick and gimp

hey,

i just installed imagemagick cos i need the mogrify command to batch all my images to a different res.

can imagemagick do what xy77 suggests as good as gimp? gimp had no batching except through scripts you see.

would be very ironic to install gimp to create an icon for imagemagick, which i then wouldn't actually use cos I have gimp... 8O

suggestions and opinions gratefully recieved!

Try this for the Rox Filer icon. It's my first attempt, so be gentle with me

Do you think there is a way we can get the Gentoo icons added to the portage tree? I would love to run the command:

emerge gentoo-icons

and have all of the icons available to use.
