I wonder, when might some of the icons people have created and posted in this thread, be added to the main archive? Or, is there some kind of idea going around about what can be done "next" with it all?

I ask because I keep emerging or installing new stuff, realise there's no icon and have to go through this thread just in case I have somehow managed to miss some groovy icon for my new program. You'd think I'd have memorized them all by now :?

You can look at this page for instructions on naming the icons. You can then send your icons to klieber@gentoo.org for them to be added to the icons page.

Thanks for reminding me to do this. I have a few icons that I would like to get added to the set.

For everyone looking for how to get these icons into kde this might be the answer.

Code: Select all

emerge /usr/portage/x11-themes/getoo-artwork/gentoo-artwork-0.2.ebuild
This will download all the icons and some other files. I would look into this for at least importing the icons into kde.

Hope this helps

hiya.

with what program do I make fancy objects like circles, squares, letters.

In windoze I've used Adobe's Photoshop 6.0 & 7.0....

I would like to make an "epsxe" icon. (fancy text "epsxe" and: circle, square, triangle, cross)

If I can do it in gimp then tell me please how.

PS. I've got the gimp template.

You'd use Gimp, yeah, that's why there's a template for it ;)

To make circles, lines, squares etc. you do things slightly differently from how you would in Photoshop, but you get used to it soon enough. Check out the documentation and links at http://www.gimp.org for tutorials and beginners' guides, and the like.

Hi, I made an icon for gthumb by including the regular gthumb icon. Tell me if you like it or if you have any better suggestions, that'd be appreciated. Thanx.

I like it, personally speaking. I've been trying to make icons from the original application icons, myself, where possible. I think your icon is just fine. It's the application icon in this standard gentoo bubble. What more does anyone need? :)

I'd like to have an icon for bibletime, a Sword Project frontend. A start could be one of these pages or gnomesword.

I'm gonna try to try something myself, but I'd be happy to see your suggestions.

If you don't necessairily need the X-Logo, this one might do.

I use that icon now but, I think an icon with the xine logo would look sweet on my desktop :)

Could someone make one for Go. There are several small icons that would work fairly well I think. If I sent someone a graphic, could they put it into the little bubble?

Remillard
