ok, the bug report(s) definitely clear(s) up why knotify isn't there and therefore not working.
does anybody have an idea if it would be possible to create an ebuild just for knotify? would this break thinks?
i would hate to recompile with the arts flag, since otherwise it works perfectly.

Prelinking was my problem
Prelinking my system does break my system notifications...all other sound works fine, just the notifications...
when the line KDE_IS_PRELINKED="true" is present in /etc/env.d/99kde-env, after a reboot i had no notifications. Emerged arts, rebooted, still same.
Removed the line, rebooted and all was then ok..
