As for the "official" gentoo wiki, it seems to have wavered due most probably to a lack of manpower
IMHO lack of manpower is neither an excuse nor an explanation. There are maybe other interests (instead to create a open knowledge base)?
Give the community an official server + (open, useable) wiki, the community will do the rest, I hope. Lets try. What will be happen if the community does not use it, who cares? Only can get better than now...

Whats wrong with Gentoo-Wiki.com? If reliability is a concern then I can set up a mirror just for the instances when it is unavailable.
I had one set up awhile back but the site remained pretty rock solid.

Well, maybe not an official documentation, but in all cases, a great source of informations.

It's been up/down for at least a week.
It's sort of a pain too, because that site is basically the "how to" for a lot of Gentoo app configs. It has great content that isn't really available elsewhere easily.
I know the guy that hosts it is spending $$ out of his own pocket to keep that site up, so I'm not gonna bitch to him "d00d, upgrade that hardware". In fact "Dude, thanks for hosting all that great documentation". But in the very least there should be mirrors or something. But even then, if you google "gentoo wicd" you're going to hit that specific site. So the URL itself would need to cluster.

Who's hosting it? I'll try to get in contact with them and see if we can work something out.

[SOLVED]What has happened to Portage website?

I tried to browse portage website for application use flags but the site is down. Its already been few days.

What site are you talking about? If it's gentoo-portage.com, this is no page officially associated with Gentoo, it's a service by a/some users.
packages.gentoo.org and znurt.org are up and working, if that's an alternative for your needs.
Btw, what do you mean with "application USE flags"? If you just want to know what they are good for, just look in /usr/portage/profiles/use.*

From app-portage/gentoolkit `equery u foo' is pretty nice for this purpose. (There are other tools too, but that one and fquery from haskell overlay are my favorites.)

I was talking about gentoo-portage.com. Ok so its not an official site of gentoo and made by some freak
Thanks for the other sites.

Some good freak because it was good work.
znurt.org is fine made, but gentoo-portage.com has some advantages. I hope he keeps it up.

AFAIK, there is not a single .com domain officially related to Gentoo. These are all "fan"-projects. Everything(?) else is gentoo.org hosted (except IRC).

Anybody knows what has happened to
http://gentoo-portage.com/??? It's been down for more than a week; I only get "Error 503 Service Unavailable" when trying to access it.

Damn, now the mirror
http://gentoo-portage.zugaina.org/ seems to be down, too...

This is getting ridiculous.
Gentoo-Portage.com has been down for months now, and I have yet to see any explanation (if anyone knows, please post it here).
It's a damn shame, because I found it
so much easier to use than
packages.gentoo.org (which I find about as user friendly as MS-DOS).
I'm glad we finally have an official wiki up and running... now someone needs to incorporate some of the "look and feel" of
G-P.c into
p.g.o!
Please!

The site works just fine for me.

Glad you're glad we have a wiki. As far as pgo goes, we know that the site needs a refresh, and we're evaluating our options.

Hmm. I don't believe you. Are you sure you're talking about
Gentoo-Portage.com?
I've gotten the error
Code: Select all
Error 503 Service Unavailable
Service Unavailable
Guru Meditation:
XID: 781884182
Varnish
(the same error message alluded to in two previous posts in this thread) for many months now. Are you sure you're not just seeing an old page your browser cached?
Oh, or are you talking about the mirror site
gentoo-portage.zugaina.org (which, apart from 4 annoying "Deprecated…" error messages at the top of every page does happen to be working as I post this)?

Yes, I'm sure. Yes, I mean gentoo-portage.com. No, it's not the browser cache.
