To install Gentoo I use sysrescuecd.Based on Gentoo,has firefox to browse Gentoo docs and mc to browse (and edit) files.
The same disk can be used for 32 and 64 bit installs.

@Rokushou,
I don't think you've done any troubleshooting professionally.
The clock problem is definitely a plasma problem.
I opened "Digital clock settings" and changed the font style.
The moment I pressed the apply button all 4 digits were back.
But of course this is a hardware/x11-driver problem?
Gerard.
Edit:Since changing the font it looks like the problem has gone.

Actually I do all the time but since I don't have the problem

your knowledge.
In any case, it is completely unrelated to the topic in this thread. And yes, a partially rendered/frozen (part of the) panel after VT switch is well within the ballpark of a graphics driver issue, not unreasonable to suggest.
In 2021, I still see the problem of desktop icons moving from where I put them when I log out and log in sometimes, but not always. I use activities instead of virtual desktop. They always stay put if I shut the machine down and reboot.
