For what? What are you trying to achieve by causing such disruption?
Actions like this are not welcome in this community. Please leave now.

I'm following this situation on twitter.
"Someone is syn packeting the temp site. moving to a new one."
I don't understand why someone would want to pull a denial of service on the temp site.
anyway, not sure how to help at this point but I sent a couple of bucks via paypal and mirrored his last post on
my personal blog.
let's keep it positive
http://gentoo-wiki.com doesnt work for me?

Please can you tell me if there is some problem with
http://gentoo-wiki.com because I cant get there:
Failed to Connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at gentoo-wiki.com.
Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.
* Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.
Or is that just problem of my internet provider, or blocking of my ip by gentoo-wiki??

Yes...the servers are down, the website tells you that itself.
Use Google's caches of the those pages if you want to try and still view them while the main servers are down.

AllenJB, d2_racing: hey guys, I dont think you got what I am saying. have you read the story on emergency page?
the email (skiplink) that I posted is that of an internet service provider who commercially hosted gentoo-wiki domain for the owner of the website. he (skiplink) has little to do with gentoo (and certainly is not a member of this forum). he failed to deliver the services he was paid for. but worst of all, he now refuses to allow to move the content, created by efforts of all gentoo community out of locked out servers. I think this is outrageous and community should speak out to this guy, who is ruining one of the best linux resources apparently for his own interbusiness feud and negligence.

Have you bothered to read the full story? To me it sounds like everyone can be blamed in some way - and that's not even taking into account that there's always atleast two sides to every story (3 in this case, by the looks).
Regardless, YOU were advocating that the Gentoo community should cause disruption to another party in some way. This is totally unacceptable. YOU are the person who I am saying is not welcome in this community if these are the kind of actions you are going to advocate here.

That's great, ty! btw, you could give Mike Valstar (the g-p and g-w admin) a hand with the new wiki by providing this old wiki of yours, more info here:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/ (look at: Restoring the old)

The story
Feel free to contribute, as much of wiki will need to be done again by the looks of it.
Im posting here for those who don't regularly visit OTG (other things gentoo) very often.

Wow...just got done reading the full story on g-w. Looks like ugliness all around. It was really uncool what Tel-X did to skiplink, but then for him to turn around and give a fuck you(almost) to Mike was just as uncool, if not more. I hope this gets resolved soon...

Problem: gentoo-wiki.com is down and it is possible that all information is lost
Why the problem exists: the community used an external platform to collect the information
Proposed solution: provide a official wiki.gentoo.org that is hosted by the same trusted administrators we know to trust

++ all round, I've seen this kind of thing coming for awhile now, I even suggested that Gentoo Infra. should host an offical wiki, but as always, developers dismissed it out of hand for one reason/excuse or another. Probably didn't fancy the idea of 'noob's not in their special club contributing to Gentoo.

You were not the only one that had a bad feeling about gentoo-wiki.com. I am a sysadmin by profession and one of my key strengths in this job is to see or better feel what will fail before it does and I wondered all the time about the reason why the wiki is not official and hosted with the other gentoo projects.
I fore one propose: give the man that build gentoo-wiki.com and gentoo-portage.com dev status or what ever is needed to be the head of a gentoo subproject and some space on the gentoo servers and make that projects official as they did a great service to the community in the past and it is a shame if things like this happens because it is bad PR and gentoo already had it's share for this year.
