I emerged it with USE="-*". I removed all wget files in distdir and emptied my temp directory but still. It seems like GCC is more strict.

But the good thing is that kdelib has now right size. Thanks for the help.I did ebuild xx digest.

Mabu you could try emerging an earlier version of wget by doing:

Code: Select all

emerge =net-misc/wget-1.9.1-r5

sorry, but that's bad help. It might be ok (again, MIGHT) to do this on an ebuild and package that you trust the source of. Its a bad suggestion. What you have done is to bypass the protection against intrusion that portage provided. NEVER do this on a package in the portage tree. Its possible that someone is trying to feed you kdelibs package from some mirror which is hacked. Just delete /usr/portage/distfiles/kde*, and /usr/portage/*/kdelibs/files/* and resync.

Having said that, I am here because I am getting the same problem kweather package in kde. I have synced many times yesterday and now in the morning here, its still the same i.e. digest failure on kweather and kdetoys. I will wait as long as I have to, but I wanted to know if some other people are facing the same problems with the tree. It is possible that a hack is in.

edit: a portage update to pre10 followed by a sync has resolved this problem.

Anybody come across this problem besides me? I did an emerge --sync and then tried to emerge kdebase. Note how it is checksumming 3.4.1 for some reason when what I'm after is 3.5.2

Code: Select all

cube dk # emerge kdebase

Calculating dependencies... done!

>>> checksums files   ;-) kdelibs-3.4.1-r1.ebuild

!!! Digest verification Failed:
!!!    /usr/portage/kde-base/kdelibs/kdelibs-3.4.3.ebuild
!!! Reason: Failed on SHA256 verification
!!! Got:      b3d115570db1abe9d8582b39824cfa31a263a6cc889fcfc280960cf3330842d7
!!! Expected: df741e120113e86679290495d35e65d22ffa37d53684d426f8ce762e40313581

>>> Please ensure you have sync'd properly. Please try 'emerge sync' and
>>> optionally examine the file(s) for corruption. A sync will fix most cases.
I also have

Code: Select all

cube dk # cat /etc/portage/package.keywords
app-office/openoffice-bin ~x86
app-office/openoffice ~x86
>=dev-java/sun-jdk-1.5.0 ~x86
>=dev-java/java-sdk-docs-1.5.0 ~x86
app-office/koffice
kde-base/kdebase
kde-base/kdelibs
kde-base/arts
kde-base/kpdf
What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help!

A temporary workaround is to do :
ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdelibs/kdelibs-3.4.3.ebuild digest
Note that this will be reset with next emerge --sync

And I suggest to remove the kde-regarding entries in package.keywords. They're not needed.

Thanks for this Vla. I also had to

Code: Select all

ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdelibs/kdelibs-3.5.2-r4.ebuild digest
to get things going. But it is now compiling so hopefully I'm good to go.

are you guys blind? My post just above (third from this one) talks about this very thing i.e. digest failure. And specifically tells you NOT to build the digest yourself. The reason is given there as well. One word: SECURITY.

My ambition to build my own digest results from an information I got on bugs.gentoo.org, which let me assume, that's not a hack attempt.
But in general, you a right.
Also, I don't ignore your posts, but I didn't follow the whole threat. I just had a quick look on this and saw the request for a quick solution, so I offered one.
I know this annoying feeling no one is interested in what I say in this forums. Sorry for that.

Don't worry about doing your own digests, it's pretty easy to spend 30 seconds searching the forums or bugs to discover that there's a bad digest in a package and to also see that the files are downloading from your normal mirror.

If someone isn't paying attention to what portage(emerge) is doing (and telling them as it scrolls by) then security is the least of their concerns.

Keypad does nothing

  • Quote

Post by wuzzerd » Thu May 04, 2006 1:22 am

Running kde 3.4 or 3.5 the keypad does nothing, although I can get kde to set/unset numlock.

If i run kde apps under fluxbox the keypad works.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

The KDE herd was so kind to open a [bug=132213]metabug[/bug]. Let's all help them out to get 3.5.2 stable. The more we help the sooner KDE can get up to date again :wink:

Digest verification failed for kdelibs-3.5.2-r4

Post by tocamac » Fri May 05, 2006 10:22 pm

When trying to update to KDE 3.5.2 I get the following error message:

Calculating world dependencies... done!
>>> Emerging (1 of 39) kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.2-r4 to /

I tried to do emerge --sync several times from different mirrors, I downloaded kdelibs-3.5.2.tar.bz2 from different mirrors, I even tried to create my own digest with "ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdelibs/kdelibs-3.5.2-r4.ebuild digest", nothing helped.

I have portage 2.1_pre10-r2. Does anybody experience something like this? Is there a solution?

Thanks!

startkde should be in your path, if it's not found when running it on the command line you did not install enough.
Could you give a list of the packages you have emerged? As which user are you starting kde? (run whoami)

Root shouldn't startkde, only users. Try setting kdm as login manager in /etc/rc.conf and then run '/etc/init.d/xdm start'. You could also try '/usr/kde/3.5/bin/startkde'. Root doesn't have the path to the KDE dirs.

Is KDE 3.52 still masked or something?
Doesn't look like it by looking at gentoo-portage.com, but when I try to "pretend" emerge kde it only shows version 3.43 ..

(It's 3.x.y, 3.5.2 and .3.4.3). 3.5.2 is ~ keyworded. See also http://packages.gentoo.org/search/?sstring=kde-meta

Hi all!!
Ie just upgraded kdemultimedia from previous version to 3.5.2-r2. Just after the update I login to KDE and found that my sound worked but no sound where played, but a horrible noise. Anyone experienced that before, or with this last update???

After adding "kde-base/kde-meta ~x86" to package.keywords, I get this result

Code: Select all

# emerge -p kde-meta

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies -
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "~kde-base/kdebase-meta-3.5.2" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- kde-base/kdebase-meta-3.5.2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! (dependency required by "kde-base/kde-meta-3.5.2" [ebuild])
If I add "kde-base/kde-meta-3.5.2 ~x86" to package.keywords the result still shows only an upgrade to 3.4.3

To get v.3.5.2 I'd then have to unmask all the packages to emerge kde-meta-3.5.2 ..
I think I'll rather wait for the release :?

Yes, but now there is a [bug=132213]bug[/bug] for it to follow the stabilisation. Please help out if you can solve some blockers!

Portage should mention that you need to unmask all dependencies yes. There is a script in this thread that helps you unmask all necessary packages :wink:
