Following gentoo wiki here is raised the following issue:

INFO: Skipping symlink '/bin/mail'; '/usr/bin/mail' already exists
INFO: No problems found for '/bin'
INFO: Migrating files from '/sbin' to '/usr/bin'
INFO: No problems found for '/sbin'
INFO: Migrating files from '/usr/sbin' to '/usr/bin'
INFO: No problems found for '/usr/sbin'
INFO: Migrating files from '/lib' to '/usr/lib'
INFO: No problems found for '/lib'
INFO: Migrating files from '/lib64' to '/usr/lib64'
ERROR: Conflict for symlink '/lib64/libncurses.so.5': [Errno 17] File exists: '/usr/lib64/libncurses.so.5'

Does emerge --ask --verbose --depclean sys-libs/ncurses-compat help? From the name, this is a compat package you probably do not want.

So this looks like you've created a problem by making an ill-advised symlink in /lib64. Verify with ls -l /lib64/libncurses.so.5; Undo that by removing it.

Code: Select all

 ls -la /lib64/libncurses.so.5 /usr/lib64/libncurses.so.5
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     22 mars   3  2020 /lib64/libncurses.so.5 -> /lib64/libncurses.so.6
Indeed this symlink is old.

Dunno why equery b refers to it whereas equery f doesn'r ... Never mind
Rebuidling both packages didn't let it go nor changed it timestamp.

I'd be surprised I created that link. Could be still

Let's delete it 8O

The bug report is still open, but this thread is marked as solved and the solution seems to be the removal of a symlink created by the local administrator. Therefore, it looks to me like there is not a valid bug to report. Is that right? If there is no bug, please close the bug reports so that the Gentoo developers do not waste time pursuing a locally inflicted issue.
