Exclude OP from the post's view counter?

I'm quite sure the view count on posts here is quite skewed, 'cos it seems to increase even if it's the author viewing their own post (like when they're checking the replies and answering them for example).

Would it be possible to change that, or is it some minor detail that doesn't really matter overall?

I doesn't say "unique views", so what's wrong with counting the OP too?

And yes, it is a minor detail which doesn't really matter. It is an inherently noisy metric (guests and spiders), and even if it was 100% accurate, what could you actually do with this information?
Honestly, when I want to know how popular some particular thread is, I just check out the number of digits, ignoring the digits themselves.

The forums are run by 20+ y.o. phpBB software. A project to update it is underway and some work has already been done but to my knowledge it's unknown when the infra team will be available to pull it off. There are a few threads on the subject and one of them is even recent enough to be on the first page of threads in this forum, if not - on the second.

Best Regards,
Georgi
