|
|
When I start Kopete (I just recompiled QT 3.lateststable and kdenetwork), I am told:
"There was an error loading the module.
The diagnostics is:
Library files for "libkcm_kopete_accountconfig.la" not found in paths
Possible reasons:
An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module. You have old third party modules lying around.
Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in the error message. If this fails, consider contacting your distributor or packager."
bash-2.05b$ slocate kcm_kopete_accountconfig
/usr/kde/3.2/lib/kde3/kcm_kopete_accountconfig.la
/usr/kde/3.2/lib/kde3/kcm_kopete_accountconfig.so
/usr/lib/kde3/kcm_kopete_accountconfig.la
Is this another part of https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41492 this bug? _________________ Gentoo Linux * DirecTivo * Who needs heaven?

I completely recompiled everything in KDE-BASE that I had installed...
| Code: | barton root # emerge -p `qpkg -I -nc | grep kde-base`
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] kde-base/arts-1.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kde-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kde-env-3-r2
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdeaccessibility-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdeaddons-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdeadmin-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdeartwork-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdebase-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdeedu-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdegames-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdegraphics-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdelibs-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdemultimedia-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdenetwork-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdepim-3.2.0-r2
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdesdk-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdetoys-3.2.0
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdeutils-3.2.0

and six hours later, it's still a no go, was worth a try... |

I checked for copies of the files Kopete wanted, they were in two different directories.
Besides the correct directory of: /usr/kde/3.2/lib/kde3/
I also had some files (including some non-kopete ones) in: /usr/lib/kde3/
Presumably the /usr/lib/kde3 files were from a CVS install, I am not sure. I noticed that there were .la files there for Kopete but no corresponding .so and that the datestamps were before my compile of last night. Interestingly enough, some of the datestamps were from earlier that day, perhaps when I had reemerged kde-network...?
In any case, I decided I couldn't break what was already broken:
| Code: | | rm -fR /usr/lib/kde3 |
And Kopete works fine now!
Cheers. _________________ Gentoo Linux * DirecTivo * Who needs heaven? |

No problem, it appears we must have all been fooling around with CVS builds of KDE and that darn directory from the CVS days was left behind. _________________ Gentoo Linux * DirecTivo * Who needs heaven? |

actualy, I know for a fact that on this system, I had never played with the CVS build of kde and I had the exact same problem. Deleting that folder also solved it for me. _________________ Someone asked me once if I suffered from mental illness. I told him I enjoyed every second of it.

I had the problem, that realy nothing in kopete worked (no connection plugin was loadable, ...)
Well, i had kopete-0.7.5 ebuild installed and kde3.2 installed another kopete-0.8.0.
... after emerge -C kopete it works fine! |

Thanks a lot for this tip, I had been using gaim untill kde 3.3, because I thought it was the betas/rc's that were my problem.
btw if you are afraid of package breakage.... revdep-rebuild is your friend _________________ The terrible thing about hell is that when you're there you can't even tell as you move through this life you love so you could be there and not even know |
