Thats good to here that yours is still working. Usually its a mystery to me why it all the sudden just stops working especially when inbetween the time that its been working and then suddenly stops, nothing's been emerged, unmerged or rebooted. It just suddenly stops working. Trying to get it working again is just a waste of my time personally. I just use it to chat with my mom and a few friends. So its really not such a huge deal that its borked for me. Again downloading the actual "ymessenger" pkg works just fine. This is the linux/unix package that was written specifically for yahoo messenger anyways, so it doesn't surprise me that it does work.sbbeebe wrote:this is getting old. right now, i'm fine with 0.75-r8 and yahoo. but just waiting for it to stop working based on the last 2 posts...
That seems to be the whole problem with yahoo messenger and """3rd party""" apps trying to use "yahoo's messenging protocol". Just speculating, but is as if they've hired someone to find and break 3rd party apps from using the Yahoo messenging protocol. (Maybe just a tad bit parnoidis there any other multiprotocol im client that is more stable with yahoo? i'm not that wild about kopete. i'm a wm user.
No, not that I know of... I've been having that problem with gaim with versions of linux-headers, gcc and glibc prior to those ones as well as with those same versions. Someone mentioned on #gaim irc channel that this problem will be fixed in gaim-0.76. So I'm patiently waiting for the gaim team to release that version. Hope this time it works FOREVER and not like the previous versions where it worked for a couple of days and then stoped working for no reason...lgeoff wrote:I upgraded linux-headers to 2.4.21 and then gcc to 3.3.2 and then recompiled glibc. Yup. Same thing here. But I'm running gcc 3.2.3. When it first appeared to fail it would be stuck at "Connecting" and just sit thier. When I looked at this with Ethereal it didn't recoginize the YMSG protocol. Error 550 unknown protocol..lgeoff wrote:I upgraded linux-headers to 2.4.21 and then gcc to 3.3.2 and then recompiled glibc. After that I recompiled gaim so I was not sure if that is what broke it. is that what anyone else is seeing?
