System-Update

Hello,

I would like to perform an update of my whole system (including gcc, libc, x, kde, etc.). I am not quite sure though what to do first and how to make sure (if possible) that the system will work afterwards correctly.

Is there an FAQ, howto, or something like this about this topic or has anybody tips how to do so.

emerge -U world

Should do it. "emerge -Up world" first to see what it will update.

you may want to look into the deep option as well
