kernel module loading problem [solved]

I have trouble loading the kernel modules for alsa and nvidia. I get the following error in /var/log/messages:

version magic '2.6.32-gentoo-r3 SMP preempt mod_unload' should be '2.6.32-gentoo-r3 SMP mod_unload'

I have compiled my kernel with both desktop options for preemption to no vail.

I think the kernel that is running and the /usr/src/linux symlink are not the same.

I found the problem, had the wrong boot partition mounted, uname -a revealed that the kernel compilation time which showed me it was the wrong kernel. I only have one kernel installed.
