Hi guys,

lockless pagecache goes upstream

I still have a lot work to do therefore just a short question:

is it possible to merge those patches when .26 is out to give it some testing ? or will it break loads of stuff (again) ?

pps: reiser4 doesn't seem to work (I can't boot off it); I think I'll wait until .26 final is out & test it, don't have much time atm ...

you were right, I looked a little closer at the error message and found out that device-mapper (?) naming-scheme has changed (again ?!)

where I it had booted from /dev/sdd5 it now boots from /dev/sdc5 (/dev/sdb before that in 99% of the time was an empty device afaik)

Is anyone else experiencing sound cranking up maaaaassively under a little load?
It sounds like a fucked up tape

I wonder if dynticks or cpuidle could cause this. It happens since -rc3 or something.

Not really, sound is as good as always with my m-audio audiophile 192. The only weirdness i experience are weird noises while powering off.

There is this cranking again, damnit. Tested with amarok2 and audacious. And all the box is doing is compiling gcc, with a load of 1.8 - last time I heard this it was at least a load of 8.

Maybe dynticks is broken again for amd? Will try and disable dynticks and cpuidle, one after another.

Sound card is a M-Audio Audiophile 2496, so it shouldn't be a crappy sound driver causing this.

ice1712 is more stable than ice1724(mine), so your card should work better. although this, they might've messed something up, i'd advise you to merge sound-2.6.git branch into zen/vanilla kernel and test there, maybe they fixed it.

@dodo -- my thinkpad buttons are bollocks'd up too.

I hope there will be an updated version of tp_smapi and thinkpad acpi soon... it's quite annoying ;/

I STILL have the problem with my intel4965 wireless fuckshitdamn

the patch seems to be applied at this version, and I found out the kernel even panics when connected to a non-secured network, so the bug can't really be in wep.c.

ANY ideas? how can I post the kernelpanic?

It's nothing driver-related, as it works perfectly fine here. So yes, get rid of those CFLAGS

. a standard -march=native selected from processor type and features menu should do. all the 'speedups' will not be visible with the kernel no matter what, so there is no point.
Also, you selected 'optimize for size' while specifying -O3 in the CFLAGS. This kinda contradicts itself, as 'optimize for size' sets -Os.

I can't see anything which could cause that in your config after a quick glance, heres my config from my thinkpad, which works; maybe you'll spot anything which could cause it.

I would like to say that i love Zen Sources, but i have got an actual Problem since Zen 2.6.26-rcX-zenX.

I have got a JMB363 Jmicron IDE Controller, with 2.6.25-zenX everything works fine (I use this controller only for my DVD-Writer) the Kernel recognize the Controller and i have got the device /dev/sr0.

When i compile the 2.6.26-rcX-zenX sources with the oldconfig from 2.6.25-zenX (before i run make oldconfig and have viewed it then with make menuconfig to see if it is correct) the Jmicron PATA Driver compiles fine and everything seems to be ok, but when i start the Kernel it doesn't recognize the Jmicron Controller (Dmesg) and the Device /dev/sr0 doesn't exist.

When i the start the 2.6.25-zenX Kernel again everything works fine.

I don't exactly know if it is a Problem with Zen Sources or if it's a Problem with the Vanilla Kernel, i will try a vanilla 2.6.26-rcX Kernel if someone request it to test this.

I hope someone can help me with this Problem, because i like to use new Kernels on my Desktop (On my Server not, there run Hardened Sources 2.6.24).

im not sure if this is your issue or not, but with .26-rc* kernels you need to enable CONFIG_ATA_SFF for most ATA controllers to work, without CONFIG_ATA_SFF you controller probably wasnt built

well you gave so description of your problem so its hard to guess... do u have CONFIG_ATA_SFF enabled?

Yes, it is enabled.

At the moment i migrating my System to another Hard Drive, i would post you my .config from the actual 2.6.26-rcX-zenX Kernel when it's done.

Hmm, you could send a bug report to lkml with the bugtrace (take a pic of your monitor when it happens or something), maybe they'll know. But before you do that, check whether it happens in vanilla 2.6.26-rc5 and/or wireless-testing branch at git.kernel.org (that's where we get wireless shit from).

@dodo - I have a z61m that I got 1.5 years ago(ish). I am going to try your .config and see how it runs. I noticed you use:

On an admin note, what does everyone use to keep on top of their grub.conf, /boot and /lib64/modules with all the different kernels we all seem to use. I do it manually, is there away to automate it?
