CnC3 Kanes Wrath / Tiberium Wars + Wine = Black Videos

Firstly, both games start and work on wine 0.9.58 and 0.9.61 with cursor patches, (followed the Wine HQ how-to)
I've disabled GLSL, to get the menu to show up, however
The ingame videos (like the start video/ea-logo) are purely black, with sound playing for the video

Disabling / Enabling GLSL does one thing, when disabled, the menu can be seen, when enabled, everything is black (video's and menues and game, except the mouse cursor)

Just wondering if anyone has a fix for it, or tips/advices?

PS: Kane's wrath refuses to get past the desktop loading screen via Cedega, but CnC3 Tiberium Wars works perfectly.

Cedega System Specs:

cpu: AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 250
cpu_ghz: 2.39
memory: 1518
videocard_manufacturer: NVIDIA Corporation
videocard_type: GeForce FX 5700LE/AGP/SSE2/3DNOW!
videocard_ram: 256
agp_aperture_size: 188
videocard_driver_version: 2.1.2 NVIDIA 169.12
soundcard: AMD AMD8111 with ALC655 at irq 1
soundcard_driver: ALSA Version 1.0.16
machine_bitness: 32
kernel: 2.6.23-gentoo-r5
x_version:
distro: Gentoo Base System release 2.0.0
GUI version: 6.0.2

Hi NagaDrag,

i have no problem to install and play the add on of CNC3. it worked fine here. With wine-0.9.59 and the Courser-Patch. No i upgrade "automatically" to 0.9.61 and the Courser has gone. But the Game and the Videos works still fine.

I will made this weekend some test..., for now i want just confirm that it "works".

The game itself works on : 0.9.58 - 0.9.61 wine versions, compiled with cursor patches (custom setup in $HOME/cnc3wine/<wineversion>) as well as the 0.9.61 install from portage.

The problem is that neither the versions of wine, nor CnC3 (Tiberium wars or Kane's Wrath) Display the videos / movies at all. (So wine version doesn't make a difference, or what patches it has on it)

I at first suspected an nvidia driver fault, but that was quickly thrown out the window, because Cedega runs CnC3 TW without problems, all videos / movies play properly, and at a much better performance level in-game (30-35 frames in cedega = 15-20 frames in wine with same settings) But, Cedega does not start KW past the splash screen (See the other post: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-691786.html)

Now, I don't mind the whole performace thing, I just wanna be able to watch the videos / movies (since all of the ingame videos / movies <pre-mission briefing, and those videos that appear where your map is> are black <as in, no picture at all, just sound>)

Ideas as to what's causing this could help me test things out. So please, if you have one, throw it out here.

My first supposed was the nvidia-driver too. Because i updated late to the new "unstable Version."
But i never had a Problem with the Videos. I relaunched the game now with the new drivers and it works also fine.

And with cedega i never get it probably installed.. i test it 3 times and i made something wrong with the registry. So i just use Wine and good is. BTW now i have Vista to play in Network and on Lans. But bye the way i don't often boot it so i installed it to play the Single-Player-Missions on Linux. With the English installation, i liked it!

Have you set the winversion with winecfg to Windows XP?
You don't use compiz-fusion while playing? Maybe try to launch in Window mod.. from a new Xsession.. i start the game from fluxbox.
Of Course i have no good idea where the issue came from..

Try to post some more information.. like, how did you install the game? With wine.. with Windows XP and copy over..?
Try antoher ncd-Patch. Try to install and Patch the game. Have you made the full installaition?

Or just wait for the new Cedega-Version which will hopefully support this game...

Good Luck!

I haven't gotten around to checking the drivers for Nvidia yet, I've got sidetracks a bit (the ones I currently have are 169 I think)

With Cedega, I did the following: Created a CnC3 install folder (basically said "Install CNC3 into it's own profile" and let it crash, so it created all the directories)
Installed CnC3 + Kane's Wrath with wine, and copied over the 3 registery files into the Cedega CnC3 folder
Dumped the needed DLL's (as per Cedega Wiki) and tried to start it, but it would run CnC3 TW fine, yet KW would hang at splash screen with the processor used at maximum
I tried several different NoCd patches, but I know that it's not it, since Wine starts KW no problem, just the videos in both games are black when in wine (TW + KW)

No compiz or anything of the sort, standart Gnome desktop, Wine is defaultly set to be at Windows XP via WineCFG
