hey all, need help from all of you gurus ... i have a problem compiling xmms...

Code: Select all

checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.2... yes
checking for gtk-config... /usr/bin/gtk-config
checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.2... no
*** Could not run GTK test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK was incorrectly installed
*** or that you have moved GTK since it was installed. In the latter case, you
*** may want to edit the gtk-config script: /usr/bin/gtk-config
configure: error: *** GTK+ >= 1.2.2 not installed - please install first ***

btw i already have gtk+1.2 and gtk+2 in my system,

Code: Select all

*  x11-libs/gtk+
      Latest version available: 2.8.20-r1
      Latest version installed: 2.8.20-r1
      Size of files: 11,960 kB
      Homepage:      http://www.gtk.org/
      Description:   Gimp ToolKit +
      License:       LGPL-2

Code: Select all

kyoshiro gtk+ # emerge -P gtk+

 x11-libs/gtk+
    selected: 2.8.20-r1
   protected: 1.2.10-r11
     omitted: none

>>> 'Selected' packages are slated for removal.
>>> 'Protected' and 'omitted' packages will not be removed.

>>> Waiting 5 seconds before starting...
>>> (Control-C to abort)...
>>> Unmerging in: 5

Exiting on signal 2
as you can see above.. i have both gtk+ in my system ... i dont know whats wrong here ...

here is my emerge info output

Code: Select all

kyoshiro gtk+ # emerge --info

Did you try compiling xmms without '-Wl,--as-needed'?

You're a genius man... it solved the problem :D ... thanks for your time and help.

I just cant make out the connection between

Code: Select all

LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--hash-style=both"
and not recognizing the path to the gtk-config... strange.

After i commented out that LDLFLAGS all went well.... kudos to lnxz
