ATI Videocard completly Turning/Poweroff any solution?

Hi,

Is there any Solution to turn the Videocard completly Off, like hdparm?

I want save power and my ati 9700 is leeching 40Watt.

When switch from X to any new tty terminal "F2,F3 etc" Ati card will powerlose for 2-5 secondes, i see it on energy-analyser.

vbetool seems to do just that. Be careful because you may not be able to reactivate your display unless you reboot. I'm not sure what all the commands do
