i have a laptop with 1GB of RAM but only 938 MB recognized, i have gentoo-sources (2.6.15-r1) inbstalled , but i cannot find the HIGHMEM Option in the kernel. Is this option removed in he new kernel versions ? If tried many configs and with no personal .config - File but the option is not available
thank you for the reply, i have done this before, but only one option available in Kernel Debugging , but not the right one i need. in "Section Processortype and features" is nothing like HGHMEM, i can remember previous version where the option was there, but now it is gone
Your BIOS might need some memory adresses for IRQ's. usually it takes a range above the used memory, but on some boards (I'v had the same with my Tyan K7X pro dual Athlon board) map it just below 1 GB. So you lose a bit of memory there.
