HELP!! no mount , no passwd, fails to start devfsd

I've installed gentoo sucessfully on 2 other PCs , one of them a notebook, but i can't install it on another PC, a 600Mhz Athlon...

It can't find passwd nor mount , where does those 2 files come from??
I can't find them on my stage 2 file...

Also it fails to start devfsd , and obviously chrashes all over the place...

Please Help, this pc WAS my server... now its off line

check ur /usr/src/linux/.config && recompile the kernel if needed
