Posted: Wed Jul 13, 2005 1:07 am Post subject: how to install binary packages built with quickpkg??? |
|
|
ive done a quickpkg on my
xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3
and
xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2
installs
portage put them in
/usr/portage/packages
dellbox packages # pwd
/usr/portage/packages
dellbox packages # ls -al
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 May 12 07:35 .
drwxr-xr-x 147 root root 4096 Jul 11 20:06 ..
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jul 12 20:58 All
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 12 06:47 x11-base
dellbox packages # ls -al All/
total 113380
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jul 12 20:58 .
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 May 12 07:35 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 12 20:58 temp
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 59801191 Jul 11 22:08 xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3.tbz2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 56157739 Jul 12 06:47 xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2.tbz2
dellbox packages #
now how the hell do I install them?
ive got PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages"
in my /etc/make.conf
but cant get emerge --usepkg and/or emerge --usepkg --usepkgonly to install them..
dellbox packages # emerge --usepkgonly xorg-x11 --pretend
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies
!!! There are no packages available to satisfy: "xorg-x11"
!!! Either add a suitable binary package or compile from an ebuild.
dellbox packages #
whats the correct syntax?

You need to define the "PORTAGE_BINHOST" variable in your /etc/make.conf
| Code: | | PORTAGE_BINHOST="/usr/portage/packages/" |
then "emerge -K <package>" or "emerge --usepkgonly <package>" |

ok, so I added that to my /etc/make.conf.
I did emerge -C xorg-x11 to remove the 6.8
dellbox jason # emerge -s xorg-x11
Searching...
[ Results for search key : xorg-x11 ]
[ Applications found : 1 ]
* x11-base/xorg-x11
Latest version available: 6.8.2-r2
Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ]
but now when I try to emerge the older packagized version,
dellbox jason # emerge -K xorg-x11
Calculating dependencies ...done!
!!! Error: the x11-base/xorg-x11 package conflicts with another package.
!!! both can't be installed on the same system together.
!!! Please use 'emerge --pretend' to determine blockers.
dellbox jason # emerge -K xorg-x11 --pretend
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[blocks B ] x11-base/xorg-x11 (is blocking x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3)
[binary N ] x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3
dellbox jason #
say what?

The offending version isn't listed in your post. Is that how it was displayed on your system? It should give the the version of the offending package.
You could try running "fixpackages" then trying the emerge command again. |

dellbox jason # emerge -K xorg-x11 --pretend
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

[blocks B ] x11-base/xorg-x11 (is blocking x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3)
[binary N ] x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r3
dellbox jason #
running fixpackages by itself didnt seem to help |

Ya got me! For some reason your system thinks xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2 is installed when it actually isn't. Maybe it's time for a bug report. Have you checked bugzilla for a similar problem?

I don't know what else to suggest. |
