I have moved back and forth from Windows to Linux many times over the past 5 years or so the reason has always been about games and not being able to play them under Linux. The games that I currently play are Half Life 2, Doom 3, Final Fantasy XI, and Ragnarok Online. I am wondering what people would recomend me doing. Has the progress of Windows emulation come any further recently or are there Linux versions of the above games. Please post any suggestions on what you think I should do.
Some people are happy gaming using Wine/WineX/Cedega. For me, dual booting is a better solution. Get the Linux version of games when available, boot into Windows for other games. Check out the Games & Players forum for tons more on gaming in Gentoo.
Is the Doom 3 linux installer on the same CD or is it a different version. Also I have ATI and yes it does have problems. The last time I used linux I wasn't even able to get it working. Altough it might have just been me trying to use the 64bit version of linux. Altough I am more concerned about Final Fantasy XI working. If anyone knows someone who got it working under an emulator please let me know, I am pretty sure that there isnt a linux version but I could be mistaken.
