I didn't notice when it arrived, but it has been in portage for a little while already.
Code: | # ls -l /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/

Nevermind, I answered my own question by looking at the faq link above. _________________ "That question was less stupid; though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way."

Doesn't the 2004.3 use 2.6 kernel? O.o _________________ Think inside of the box first. |

Things are released when they are ready for release.
Moved from Installing Gentoo. |

lets put it this way, it was management within Microsoft that force software eng to make their code ready for a release date.
There is no reason for windows to be soo buggy and crassy, it is the dumb-ass management that want to stick to stupid-unrealsitic release dates.
So even though I still have a 2004.2 liveCD (just incase) I will upgrade to the GUI to check it out, if it can be used like a knoppix liveCD as well. But If it takes all of this year before it is released BUT it works great so be it.
makes no difference, once it is released I can just sync and emerge to be more upto date than the CD _________________

There's no public release date for 2005.0 yet. A provisional date was posted to the gentoo-core list, but it's subject to change depending upon whether we run into stage problems, testing problems, mirror problems, our release manager getting kidnapped and so on, so nothing's going to be announced until just before it goes live.
So, basically, whenever it's ready, but if you want to narrow it down then take a look at the release roadmap on the releng pages. You should remember that this is just a rough target, not a release date.
Oh, yeah, and no GUI installer. We may or may not have a very early beta for 2005.0. I'm guessing 'not', since I've seen the code |

Does it work on every Gentoo-supported arch? Is it small enough to fit on a netboot image?
Hrm, didn't think so. |

Adding every supported arch should be relatively simple ... add the options in the menu and the settings (for CHOST, CFLAGS, ARCH, keywords, etc)
And a 36.5kb bash script is hardly too big for a netboot. There would only be a hitch if you required more than what's already on the minimal cd to START the installer.
But what do I know, I'm a programming noob =/ |

Ah, see, it's not that simple. Not everyone uses fdisk, and not everyone uses DOS disclabels. Oh, and bootloaders are different too. Hm, and the only thing we can fit interpreter-wise on netboot images is ash. |
