XFCE4: Weather Update doesn't work

I've been using xfce4, and It's great. But the one thing I can't get working is the Weather applet. I've tried using where I am (Rochester, NY), and a few other known places (Buffalo, San Diego), and I still can't get it to update. I've also tried the auto-proxy option, and still nothing. I've never had any problems with things like this before, never needed to use proxies, No ports blocked by my ISP. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with xfce 4.2. It had nothing to do with proxy or network.

In my case (because i had removed everything from xfce4 in my homedirectory) i just had ~/.config/xfce4.

Then i had to create ~/.xfce4 and the weather-plugin was working again. You can see , that he stores his data within this directory.

Hope this helps.
