are You using Nvidia AGP or AGPGART ?
only AGPGART is working with 2.6.11-rc1-* kernels

tom@SiRiUS ~ $ uname -a
Linux SiRiUS.home 2.6.11-rc1-vv_e3 #1 Tue Jan 18 23:42:00 CET 2005 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
tom@SiRiUS ~ $ uptime
12:44:31 up 12:58, 4 users, load average: 0.11, 0.17, 0.26
... using the genetic-as & reiser4

no memory leaks or something, just fast, nice, awesome! logs are clean (and YAY! this pio_putfont what ever the heck it was is gone )

it'll get stressed by compiling openoffice-ximian later... but as far i can see it now, this is going to be a uptime record kernel!

Thanks for the tip 'bout agpgart.
I had to change "nvidia" to "nv" to make my X server start.

no problem .
I think that nv is worse than nvidia driver.
I`m still using nvidia dedicated driver , but the difference is only in agpgart instead of nvagp. I have agpgart compiled as static in kernel and I did

Code: Select all

# BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
# Option "NvAGP" "1"
in my xorg.conf

now agpgart is in use

Code: Select all

#
 cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status

Status: Enabled
Driver: AGPGART
AGP Rate: 4x
Fast Writes: Enabled
SBA: Enabled
cheers :)

I`m uploading vv_e4 to the server now hehe , some add-ons today (Genn`s script new version,reiser4 fix,qnet,acpi dsdt,atxp,bluez mhz,sched iso v3)

what if the defaut the default orinoco drivers were left in your kernel by default and leave the patches broken out

the orinoca patch is from net-dev patch from kernel.org

I was done some other patch for vv_e4 based on orinoco-2.6.9-rfmon-dragorn-1.diff , Try this in addition to vv_e4
http://vivid.dat.pl/2611rc1vv_e4/vv_e4_orinoco1.diff

of course in main kernel_src dir

Code: Select all

# patch -p1 < vv_e4_orinoco1.diff
If it working and be OK , I will add it to the next release ,

cheers :)

Ok, for anyone who has been using my scheduler changing script (which was included in the last vve release) there is a new version of it. It can be found on page seven of this thread, or at http://genn.sitesled.com/files/scripts/ ... nge_script. . I'm planning on updating it again this weekend with the ability to do a not-interactive method--by use of another command line arguement--that will hopefully have partial matching as well. If anyone has any comments, please let me know.

well if the orinoco drivers are going to work at all (for a particular version), they should work built outside of the kernel as well as inside the kernel, I have tried the cvs version, portage version, and various others, when compiled outside of the kernel they dont load with pcmcia and with modprobe I get an error about some missing enable orinoco space crap and built into the kernel they load but i dont see the normal output in dmesg when they load and no interface can be found....

this prob has to be related to the net-dev patch, how do I reverse that

Ok, I redid the script yet again. It now has a second optional command line arguemnt for a non-interactive scheduler selector. However, if you use the this arguement you must specify the block device as well. This method also has partial matching, so 'scheduler_change_script hda ant' will work just fine.

It's on page 7 of this thread and at http://genn.sitesled.com/files/scripts/ ... nge_script

btw. 2.6.11-rc2 is out :)

rmh3093 : for reversing net-dev , download it from 2.6.11-rc1-mm1 broken out , You can reverse it . But propably You must reverse orinoco patch first , and maybe other patches which I aplied after net-dev and are in relation with it.It may be simple or not :)

Genn : thanks for up-to-date version :)

Darklegion : the patches are taken from pld linux repozitories. Idea is move quick sort implementation from xfs to the lib , to provide possibility of use it by other stuff in kernel.
This subject is still active on lkml with new version http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/1/17/173 and http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/1/17/176. 2 patches are in vivid depending on previous stable releases. It`s cosmetic change , so I think the 2 patches will be go out. I adding it becuase I`m used to , but is not required , so will be out . i`m not suer You aksed about patches or Quick Sort , Quick Sort is recursive sorting idea/alg.

cheers

the problem seems to be beyond the net-dev I have reversed everything I possibly can wont work, I have to revert to 2.6.10 and apply staircase10.5 and genetic-io and all that crap and some ck crap and that works so it has to be from mm fixes or changes in pcmcia
