I finally found the problem. Deleting /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox solved it. It also solved many of the fonts problems I had! |

Could be some bad setting somewhere that carried over. You could rename the ~/.kde3.3 directory and let it create a new one, not sure if it will make a default one or keep importing the 3.2 settings.
I doubt it's related to your firefox profile but it's possible I guess.
Did you delete all the window-specific settings that were listed for firefox? If not you might try that. If that helps you can make a new one like I listed above. |

Did you re-emerge glibc after switching to gcc 3.4?
If not, that should be your first task. _________________ "I'd rather have a President who does it to a woman than one who does it to his country" -- Shirley Maclaine

I had a problem with amarok too. It might just be that your pcm is muted by kmixer. Start kmix, and check the Master and PCM buttons so they are lit green. Sounds silly, but it was what fixed my problem. Although amarok still won't control its own volume, but I can still control the volume with kmix. _________________ Ban Reality TV!

Well, somehow kdemultimedia finally compiled (even so I didn't change anything).
Now JuK is broken also:

juk: WARNING: [void PlayerManager::setup()] Could not find all of the required actions.
juk: ERROR: Communication problem with juk, it probably crashed.
andre@2100z .kde3.3 $ KCrash: Application 'juk' crashing... |
The amarok problem is now:
Code: | [amaroK loader] connecting to /home/andre/.kde//socket-2100z/amarok.loader_socket
[amaroK loader] amaroK not running. Trying to start it..
amarok: WARNING: [bool CollectionDB::execSql(const QString&, QStringList*, QStringList*, bool)] sqlite_compile error:

Anybody besides me have problems with kpilot? None of the conduits work properly and occasionally crash. Since kdepim didn't have the debug flag in its use stuff I can't generate good backtraces. The console speaks of problems reading data cards which aren't available for my model of palm.
Is this just conduits not being finished or should I bug-report it? _________________ --First General Edgaer

|
|
I upgraded to beta1 recently and found that its support for Ogg Vorbis files doesnt appear to be as good as that of alpha1. The problems im getting are:
Konquorer crashes when trying to rip Ogg Vorbis files from an audiocd using the audiocd:/ protocol
Some of the Oggs used for window notifications have started jittering. Has anyone else had similar problems? or can anyone else reproduce them? |

the problem is not that ogg support don't appear to be as good as that of alpha1.
The problem is tha there are bugs. Report them and perhaps they will be fixing it.

I reported the konqueror bug to kde (http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84972), but for some reason, even though everything is compiled with FEATURES="nostrip" USE=debug and DEBUGBUILD=true, the KDE Crash Handler didnt appear to produce very useful output.
The point of my post was to find out if other people were having similar trouble.

Have you a fast cpu? If yes, perhaps you don't mind trying this:
inherit kde kde-source flag-o-matic
src_compile() {
filter-flags '-fomit-frame-pointer'
This is because that flag fucks the debugging information. Try with arts, kdelibs, kdebase and tell me if that worked. |

ok.
I have all of this in my kde-cvs ebuilds (provided by Caleb, modified by me): (> is what I add)
> inherit kde-dist kde-source eutils flag-o-matic (I added flag-o-matic)
> FEATURES="nostrip"
> myconf="$myconf --enable-debug=full"
src_compile() {
> filter-flags '-fomit-frame-pointer'
I think some of that are already provided by your use flags (debug and nostrip), so I think the most important for you is the "inherit" and the "filter-flags". |

Is this in the kde meta ebuild or each respective package? i.e. Do you change kdeaccessibility, etc for this? I personally would love to be able to get more information out of say kpilot than is currently provided so I can know exactly why it crashes when trying to sync the todo and calendar with the standard resource. _________________ --First General Edgaer

But back to my original question, has any one else had similar problems ripping oggs using the audiocd: protocol - if not, could someone please give it a go and tell me if konqueror crashes for them too? |

Ripping ogg, konqueror crashes for me too. MP3 works fine. Apart from that konqueror also crashes when I open html files (but not web pages) in a new window. |

Have you been able to get a decent crash trace out of the KDE Crash Handler? |

@ktech: I re-installed arts, kdelibs and kdebase with the modifications you suggested in your 3:26 am post and it worked. The modified kdebase ebuild, however, only worked without the 'kde-source' flag. The latter resulted in:
...
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: line 37: cd: /var/tmp/portage/kdebase-3.3.0_beta1/work/kdeb
ase: No such file or directory
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: line 42: cd: /var/tmp/portage/kdebase-3.3.0_beta1/work/kdeb
ase: No such file or directory

@theboywho: managed to get a decent report with ktechs modifications. I updated your bug report with the output. |

Thanks!! i saw it today.
Alphonzo, Have you noticed OGG support being a bit 'off' generally? In Amarok, some of my OGG files which used to play fine, are jittery, same goes for some of the OGG files i use for window notifications. |

I can't tell, since I rarely use Ogg. I only ripp CDs for my Nomad MP3 player which unfortunately cannot handle OGG files at all. |
