hallo zusammen,
nun - im augenblick bin ich etwas irritiert:
ich besitze eine 11Mbit wlan karte von HP, mit Orinoco chipsatz.
jetzt ist es für mich sehr verwirrend, dass auf der rückseite der karte steht:

...

nach dem einstecken der karte meldet der treiber:

eth2: ready

der unterschied ist klar, oder?
die karte sagt auf der rückseite WEP64, der treiber sagt 104-bit (==128bit WEP)
da ich keinen AP habe, der 128bit WEP unterstützt jetzt meine frage:
gibt es irgendwie die möglichkeit festzustellen, ob der treiber oder die karte recht hat?
d.h. kann die karte 128bit WEP oder nur 64bit WEP ???
über ideen, aufklärung würde ich mich sehr freuen...

Obwohl WEP128 standartisiert ist und sich die meisten aktuellen Komponenten damit schmücken, sprechen gelegentlich die Funkmodule verschiedener Hersteller nicht miteinander. Deswegen wird vielfach nur die garantierte Verschlüsselung angegeben.
Geh einfach davon aus, daß die Karte rein theoretisch WEP128 unterstützt, damit aber nicht unbedingt an allen WEP128-Accesspoints andocken kann.
