Question: Speed comparisson Ion window manager...

I don't care about the speed of ion. I use ion3 daily, although i'm under gnome 2.6 now, and i fall in love with the keybindings and to have a overview over all the windows on one workspace. i love ion and i don't think it's ugly.

Aha! Thanks for your config slarti] it'll come in handy when I'm going to test Ion, which is today. I do like WMI but the code is still buggy, after a while I loose control of the alt key which is as you could guess pretty "interesting". The strangest thing is that when I su, the alt key dies faster. It probably just seems that way though. Anyway if anyone has the same problem, I would like to know... so that I'm not the only one(hopefully... aren't I evil, hehe).

rhadar i think you overlooked a section of the Ion site, information about Ion3 is just under the Ion1 (stable) and unofficial packages. Here is the link to the Ion3 release notes.
The thing I do like to know, is how different is working with Ion3 instead of Ion2? Why do you use Ion3 as it's not stable? Also should I check out Ion3 instead of Ion2 and why?
And the final bang of questions how difficult is it to learn lua? Do you master it quickly? Because that's the reason I tried out WMI first, because I allready know C++.

Oh if we are posting screenshots here is my WMI screenshot note my super cool system monitor script in action down the bottom right. I still haven't changed from the default theme yet but I think I'm going to choose something a bit more subdued when I get round to it.

Also I'm just using a simple font at the moment as I use UXTerm so I can get all those funny characters -- not that I can read Chinese or anything but I don't like when I see ugly squares.

Nice, the script down under is very nice indeed! I'll post a screenshot when I get everything working correctly. I still have the issues with WMI and I haven't gotten to testing Ion(don't know if I'll try 2 or 3) yet.
Currently rxvt is giving me the finger. "rxvt: could not obtain control of tty" ... Ohw yeah? Right back at you buddy!

it's a bit ugly since my perl is very rusty but it seems to work OK, the mail monitor only works if your mail is stored in the maildir format but I'm sure that would be easy enough to change. Just download the script make it executable and put it in a directory in your $PATH and put the following in your ~/.xinitrc

In the name o' Donald Dewar man! Is that running on a C64 or something, those colours make my eyes bleeeeeeeeed! Seriously, it looks nice & minimal - might give this a shot and see if it's got anything less that fluxbox (yes, I said less i like it lean...).

To those that are talking about Key Bindings:

I would suggest xbindkeys. It is a very easy way to add Key Bindings to any X Window Manager. The cool thing is that the key bindings stay between window managers.

My main use for xbindkeys is for starting applications I use alot. Like Firefox, Thunderbird, etc.

Just a thought. I use it with xfce4 window manager and have been pretty pleased with it.

I rather like how it looks. having all my programs neatly, and automatically tiled with no waste of space just feels clean to me

Yea and I agree it looks pretty sweet but I personally think fluxbox and these ultra-customized fvwm screenshots are ugly.
