qmail-scanner ebuild is broken

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

qmail-scanner ebuild is broken

I wanted to integrate a virus scanner in qmail, so I emerged qmail-scanner. The six dependencies (including clamav) installed fine, but then qmail-scanner itself:

Code: Select all

Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (7 of 7) net-mail/qmail-scanner-1.16-r2 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) qmail-scanner-1.16.tgz
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking qmail-scanner-1.16.tgz to /var/tmp/portage/qmail-scanner-1.16-r2/work
 * Replacing obsolete head/tail with POSIX compliant ones
>>> Source unpacked.
Building Qmail-Scanner 1.16...

Sorry, but this must be run as root, as several operations require - well
root access :-)

yes: standard output: Broken pipe
yes: write error

!!! ERROR: net-mail/qmail-scanner-1.16-r2 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 39, Exitcode 1
!!! ./configure failed!
Retrying gives the same error. Why is this in the stable x86 tree or am I missing something here? :) (oh I am root ;))

Never mind, I found it. I had the userpriv flag in FEATURES, causing all compiles to run as the portage user.

Packages that require root during this stage should be blocked instead.

I would like to second that motion. I spent hours looking for this simple line. Admittedly, I set portage to userpriv, or at least agreed to it, but this error is not trapped in any way. A newly un-masked ebuild for those of us not fiddling with our keywords for unstable packages should not get surprises like this.
