Gnome 2.6 not starting

Hi,

I just emerged gnome-2.6 but when i try to start it the following error message appears:

There was an error starting the GNOME-Settings Daemon. Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly. 
The Settings Daemon restarted too many times. GNOME will try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.

It goes on that I should try to run bonobo-slay, that maybe Nautilus_shell.server can't be found or LD_LIBRARY_PATH is missing something.

I tried to reemerge libbonobo and nautilus but this didn't help. Should Nautilus_shell.server be a file somewhere present on my system? I could'nt find it.

This entry in my logfile could be helpful, but I don't know what to do with it:

What is this /var/tmp/portage doing there?

What happens when you try to run "gnome-settings-daemon" from the command line?

It's not in PATH but starting /usr/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon prints this message:

** (gnome-settings-daemon:11670): WARNING **: Encountered problems registering the settings daemon with bonobo-activation. Clients may not detect that the settings daemon is already running.

Doesn't prevent it from loading though.

Yea, something is wrong with bonobo then. And if remerging it did not help you at all, then I am out of ideas.
