I've got a problem emerging svgalib; I'm running 2.6.8, and have linux26-headers installed.
What did I bork in order to get this error? Any reasonably easy fix?

I fixed this. Seems that I somehow borked my gentoo-dev-sources; reinstalling them fixed this issue.

hi,
I've the same problem you have. Compiling svgalib-1.9.19-r1 I've got errors due to storge size.
What do you mean writing Quote: | reinstalling them fixed this issue. | Remerge gentoo-dev-sources or recompiling the kernel?

Ok, recompiling the kernel solved the problem.
Anyone can tell me why it's happened?

Reinstalling the gentoo-dev-sources fixed it for me. Recompiling the kernel did not. I believe I borked my install after messing around with stuff in the kernel source tree.

I think it's for framebuffer support or for splashscreen support it may fail if the script detects you do not have support for it in your current kernel or if your kernel has not been patched for it **I think**. I have somewhat the same problem I unmerged it and it still tries to install in a emerge -u world, meaning that fails on me. So I'm just reinstalling the gentoo-dev-sources and I hope thats enough to satisfy it because I'd rather not have to try and remember what Kernel options it needs for it not to fsck up. You may want to study the simlink to your kernel in /usr/src/ it may be pointing to an old kernel and that may whats being used, so you may need to update that. This is all just guessing, I'm emerging 2.6.9 lets see if it fixes it..... |
