Hi everybody,

There is a Gentoo splash screen at KDE-Look.org. :D

The install perl script didn't work for me but a simple
Code:
cp /where_you_untared_it/splash_*  ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics/
does the install.

I am using a Final Fantasy splash screen with Liquid in KDE 3.0.2 that I also obtained from kde-look.org. I don't remember having any trouble installing it, but you could try backing all the pic's in the ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/pics/ directory in another directory and just have the one that you want to use there.

Do I have to select which splash screen to use somewhere in KDE? or should it just use the one in that folder?

What are the file permissions of the image in the folder?

(No, you don't have to choose this in some arcane KDE menu. I think it just uses the one in that folder.)

I emerged a app the other day I think it was "kslpash" funnily enough , adds custom splash options to the look and feel menu.

Cheers
Dale.

I'm the one who made the Gentoo KSplash, so I'll give some explanations.

There is in x11-misc an application named ksplash-ml and ksplash-ml-themes in x11-themes. This application adds an item in the Look&Feel menu in the KDE Control Center wich allow you to choose between differents splashs screens.

My Perl script rely on this application to be installed, so I don't have to backup the previous splash screen (but I should have warned people about this...).

KSplash-ml is nice because you can preview splash screens and switch between them easilly... I think it worth emerging
