|
|
Hello folks
Just emerged wine yesterday to play Broodwar, and, oh surprise, it didn't work ... I went through bugzilla to find out that the ebuild needed little update, so I edited the file, emerged anew, and there it is ... A segfault !!
Code: | /usr/bin/wine: line55: 19031 Segmentation fault WINEDEBUG=-all "$RUNWINE" "$@" |
Code: | /usr/bin/wine-pthread: line55: 19034 Segmentation fault WINEDEBUG=-all "$RUNWINE" "$@" |
Well, I tried wine-pthread cause I have nptl in my make.conf ... Noticeable things about my config : using X.org, USE=" ** nptl ** " and ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" in my make.conf, and everything compiled with nptl, since it's in there still the beginning ...
Does anyone have a clue ?? |

I wish I could help you, but I'm getting the same thing. I've spent a few days trying different setups only to have it segfault every time. I've tried various versions of ebuilds, and I've tried manually compiling from source. All of them segfault. It is very weird as minesweeper will run, but not notepad. Adobe's Acrobat will install and bring up a splash screen but segfault after I hit accept on the agreement. Warcraft 3 will flash it's install splash screen then shortly thereafter segmentation fault too. I've tried re-emerge glibc (and upgrading). Any insight? |

Well, I only tried the solitaire, which a friend of mine has running with no problem on his gentoo laptop. Maybe I have a bad carma Well, should I try an older version, or is it likely I get the same error ?? |

I can get minesweeper to work, but not notepad, warcraft, or acrobat reader. Note sure what else to try. |

Have you tried using the wine-pthread binary instead? |

OK I got wine to finally work. After trying to debug with gdb, I upgraded my kernel to the latest love-sources, and now everything works. At first I thought it was related to glibc but it seems as though upgrading the kernel fixed everything. |

Which one did you have, and which one do you have now ?? I have gentoo-dev-2.6.7-r8 on my box, which was pretty the last at the time i compiled it ... And by the way, what's the difference between the gentoo-dev and the love sources ?? |

Now I am using 2.6.8-rc1-love1 (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=198860) from 2.6.7-love8, and wine works fine (as good as wine gets anyway). The differences are mostly the patchsets that are applied to love, including things like the mm series patches, framebuffer, reiser4, wireless mods, different schedulers, etc. |
