As I found in other Topic threads, if you remove sandbox from FEATURES in make.conf and make.globals it will get past this issue. However the gentoo docs say to NOT remove it. I killed the build shortly after I confirmed it will get past this point, I hope I did no harm.

From /var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.1.1/work/oo_1.1.1_src/solenv/bin/build.pl at line 357, it appears to be checking for the build directory...

Does anyone know how to resolve an issue with ebuilds and the sandbox?

Actually, you don't need to edit the files at all.
Code:
FEATURES="-sandbox" emerge -u openoffice

Trying this now, because I had the same problem.

Actually,
Quote:
FEATURES="-sandbox" emerge -u openoffice

is of no use at all - on my side at least.

During my searches it seemed that the problem persists in
non-english systems, is that right?
I found references to the same error in
german, french and italian.

Can someone shed a little light?
Any help appreciated!
Peace,
Georg

Same exact error here. US/english. Conservative cflags as well.

CFLAGS="-mcpu=athlon-xp -march=athlon-xp -O3"

I am now trying the above workaround.

Thank you for your time,

Well, I really don't know why, but
today FEATURE="-sandbox" did the trick...

Doing this yesterday failed admirably -
but as the saying goes, a computer is
only a human :)))

Thanks for your help everybody!
Peace,
Georg

Hello,

Just to inform people who are interested in stuff like CFLAGS settings, FEATURES settings, ... I have just launched a new topic about this issue. If interested, follow this topic too : https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=158713&highlight=cflags.

Cheers, Moonlight

By the way, FEATURES="-sandbox" emerge openoffice solved on my system the described problem in this thread.
