|
|
I made an ebuild for a openoffice.org 2.0 snapshot (OOo_1.9.m58_native_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz). Works nicely for me (I'm on an amd64 machine) and I'm sure there would be some who might want to try test the 2.0 snapshot. The ebuild is by no means perfect, but it works.
Do I e-mail a particular developer or do I post it somewhere? |

Become visible by fixing bugs. Then you may be asked to join and could care for your (and other) packages of interest yourself. _________________ Please make sure that you have searched for an answer to a question after reading all the relevant docs. |

They actually responded very quickly, basically saying since full release is several months off that it's way too early for that to go on the official portage tree.
That's fine though. At least the ebuild is out there for anybody who wants to use it. They should be able to find it through a bugzilla search or a forum search. I have seen a few grumblings over OOo using RPMs for their Linux releases, which seems to get under the skin of Gentoo and Debian-based distros. But now at least the Gentoo folk have a working ebuild to play with (however it does require rpm2targz), even though it's not on the official portage tree.
I will now add some keywords to assist anyone who may be searching for this:
OpenOffice.org 2.0 RPM 1.9.m58 developer snapshot builds OOo ebuild development
Oh and since I put a download restriction on the ebuild here's where you can download the tarball:
