I have emerged xfree-4.3.0-r3 and now kde crashes as well as gnome.
kde says: ksmserver crashes with signal 11
gnome says: gnome session manager crashed by a segmentation fault.
Any idea what I can do about it?
kernel is 2.4.20-r5 _________________ niemand is onbekwamer, dan een timmerman zonder hamer

Try re-emerging kde and gnome. |

well.. because it happens both with KDE and Gnome, I'd like to try kdm first but I don't know how. There is no package called "kdm"
I have tried "emerge kde" but nothing is compiled then. _________________ niemand is onbekwamer, dan een timmerman zonder hamer

I *think* kdm is part of kde-base/kdeadmin, but please don't quote me on that. If you want to recompile all of KDE, you'll need to type "emerge -e kde". |

"emerge -e kde" -> broke at perl, segmentation fault with Perl_yylex
So i did LC_ALL="C" emerge perl
.. and perl did build ok. But what is next?
When I start emerge -e kde again, it will go wrong agin at perl, I think.
emerge --resume kde -> nothing to resume
Is there any way to rebuild kde without perl? _________________ niemand is onbekwamer, dan een timmerman zonder hamer

kdm is in kdebase, not in kdeadmin. |

I solved my problem by downgrading xfree to xfree-4.2.0.-r2
The problem persisted, with kdm and gdm so it had to be my upgrade from xfree that caused the trouble and not kdm. _________________ niemand is onbekwamer, dan een timmerman zonder hamer
