not sure where this is supposed to be posted, but can i get the commands to install gnome2?

i've been trying and it keeps coming out broken or version 1.4...

please be verbose ;)

I'm assuming that you're upgrading from gnome1.4 so all you need to do is..
emerge unmerge gnome-core
emerge gnome
And that's it, the full message on the release by Spider is on the News and Announcements forum. There are also some beutification guides floating around on the forums with tips on how to install themes and window managers etc. but I can't remember exactly where they are now so you'll just have to do a forum search for them. Hope that helps...

it just loads kdm instead, and i have gdm set in /etc/rc.conf

any ideas?

if i use gnome as my session, it blinks the screen and comes back to kdm

i did ctrl+alt+backspace, shouldn't that make X+xdm respawn?

okay, i did everything you guys said...now gdm works, when i restart xdm that fixed it

but when i login using gnome as my session, the screen flashes and it comes back to the install screen, so what am i missing?

emerge gnome-session
emerge gnome-desktop
