While trying to update portage in an incorrect manner, I seem to have uninstalled it. All I get now is :
Code: |
emerge portage
bash: /usr/bin/emerge: No such file or directory
|
What do I do now? Help!
Bob

Try using one of the portage rescue tarballs in /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/files/ _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Trying not to be too dense... but could you expand? I'm afraid I am not sure what exactly I am to do.

Doesn't Gentoo home page, Docs, Portage, etc on left side of page help out ?
emerge rsync would reload portage tree, but only basic stuff when installing ??
Hope it (tree) wasn't too full of goodies.
A moderator posted how to change default storage directory, what about a
back-up system of these ? Peferably a separate partition, containing rescure
utilities also.
With an older setup, non-CD boot capable, this was a must, floppies couldn't
hold enough vital utilities, besides, every person has different needs.
