|
|
I just installed KDE 3.3.0 yesterday, and my audiocd:/ ioslave is gone! Typing audiocd:/ in the konqueror location bar simply gives me "Protocol not supported audiocd". It was working fine with the KDE 3.3 betas and release candidates.
Anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me?

You need to set the cdparanoia USE flag and recompile. It took me a while to figure it out.

Thanks Johan!
Just a remark, you only need to recompile kdemultimedia, not all of kde.

I recompiled kdemultimedia (and kdebase) with the cdparanoia USE flag set. Still same problem:
protocol not supported: audiocd
Help? |

I have 2 linux boxes they both had this problem, I recompiled kdemultimedia with the cdparanoia in my USE FLAGS on both machines, on one machine the problem is solved, on the other not!!!
What else is needed to make this work? |

etcat is in the package gentoolkit
with -u option you verify that the package is truly compiled with the specified useflags
But it is indeed strange
Which version of cdparanoia do you use? |

problem with recompile...
I've never recompiled an app... i've always upgraded. Now, i'm trying emerge -p kdemultimedia and it gives the "R" indication.
Do i have to unmerge it before i re-emerge it? _________________ > It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue. |

no
the "R" just indicates that the app is already installed in the same version and will be recompiled (maybe with new use-flags)

how come you need to add cdparanoia as a USE flag, if it isn't even present in file /usr/portage/profiles/use.desc ?
how would i know it IS a USE flag?! |

Hi tbart,
have a look at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=2&chap=2
cdparanoia is a local useflag. use.desc only describes global use-flags.
local useflags are described in /usr/portage/profiles/use.local.desc
[edit]: You can also get a description with Code: | etcat uses "packagename" |
