Hi All,

I installed XFCE4 today and lost the ability to start xterm/twm. Now when run startx I go straight into xfce4.

I'd like to roll back what I did so I am able to either run startx (for xterm/twm) or startxfce4 after I boot into Gentoo.

I've been trying to retrace my steps for a few hours now and I'm not getting anywhere.

Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

j_d

You have emerged x11-apps/xinit with USE="minimal". Do
Code:
 # echo "x11-apps/xinit -minimal" >> /etc/portage/package.use
 # emerge --oneshot --newuse xinit
It will then pull in x11-apps/xclock, x11-apps/xsm, x11-terms/xterm and x11-wm/twm.

No, that's wrong, or more exactly, off-topic.

startx just start your ~/.xsession|~/.xinitrc if it exists, /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc otherwise, so start looking there.
Check XSESSION value too.
