|
|
Hi,
I was wondering if there are ebuilds of older versions (v34) of chrome still available?
I would like an older version due to apparent incompatibilities with silverlight, XBMC and netflix.
(trying to get netflix to work).
Thanks,
Lex. |

I use this:
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.gentoo.org:/var/cvsroot co -D $1 gentoo-x86/$2
$1 is a date like 2011-04-05 (no "-D $1" checks out the latest).
$2 is the pkg like for nvidia drivers you'd have "x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers"
you can get ebuilds going way back but ime that's never the prob, rather at times trying to find the source tar for it. I don't use chrome so don't know how old r34 is but it may be necessary to search internet if it's no longer in any gentoo mirrors. |

You may be able to find the ebuilds in the Attic, but I believe google has the policy of removing old versions of it's browser so I don't think you will be able to get the package to install it. This is also the reason that chrome has no stable version. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

Thanks for your replies, Nordic bro and The doctor,
Indeed, I realise the real problem is getting the old source and that seems hard to find in this case.
I'll do some more searching, but apparently indeed the old versions are not available any more from google.
I did find some binaries on the web, but apparently they have different dependencies (which are unclear) than the regular ebuild, so manual emerge of those one by one is probably needed.

It appears that since last weekend there is an option to get Netflix to work with HTML5 in the newest versions of chrome (google-crhome-unstable, 38 ), and it seems to work ( just tried very briefly).
See http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTc1ODY .
Guess that this is easier then using an older version of chrome |
