Recently I realized that my xsession errors where no longer logged to ~/.xsession-errors. For gnome users gdm used to log to .cache/gdm/session which is now forwarded to journald so by reading the system journal they can recover their xsession-errors. But I have a simple X + fvwm environment, so no gdm in particular. How can I log my xsession-errors?

Well, I googled a while and couldn't find info on xsession-errors other than in gnome, in particular this commit of gdm-session https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2012-April/msg11498.html

I suppose I remember ~/.xsession-errors from older gnome setups I must've had. My question remains, how can I log the standard error or warning output of gui programs... for example all the warnings and logs from gtk+, in a gnome environment they go to xsession-errors, how can I log those?

EDIT: Ahhh stupid me! in the same stdout and stderr of the window manager I can find this...
