Hi,

I have just updated everything, and have a consistent system again on my laptop (an MSI GT70). It seemed like everything was working just fine, it even appeared that I had optimus working, until I plugged in my usb mouse. The system did not seem to recognize my mouse, which is odd, because I have used it a million times before. The mouse seems to work with gpm, it is just in X it doesn't show up. I do have x11-drivers/xf86-input-mouse installed, however. After about 10 minutes with the mouse plugged in, the system seemed to grab it. Myabe it was just too busy with all the errors below.

I went to look at my /var/log/messages to begin trouble-shooting the issue and I found I was getting the following message in my log file about 100x a second:

Code:
ACPI Warning: \_SB_.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP._DSM: Argument #4 type mismatch - Found [Buffer], ACPI requires [Package] (20130725/nsarguments-95)

I don't know if this error ouput has anything to do with my mouse not working, but clearly something is very wrong here. Am I missing something in my kernel config? Any ideas what is going on here?

Thanks!

Needless to say, my log file is getting huge.

My other system information:

I have those messages, too. Been having them before, dunno if they went away in between.
They're probably caused by your graphics card. At least, if you search this warning in google you'll find posts on the NVidia forum and one made by me some time ago on this forum.
Someone told me they're not to worry about.

Yeah, I have seen others post a similar error, but never have bumped into a good resolution. Perhaps it is not to be worried about, but I was getting like 100 a second there. I have been noticing that I'm having stability errors as well after engaging the nvidia chip.... Maybe i'll try a newer version of the nvidia driver...

I had those with the newest stable one as well. Perhaps an unstable one gives you better results. Revertet to 337 and they're still there.
However, I have no issues with my system (apart from the messages and my log out issue).
