|
|
I am having a terrible time trying to playback x265 encoded video. I have tried using gstreamer and vlc (through totem, parole, dragon, and vlc), none of which seem to output any video. I'm a little suprised as I enabled x265 use flag globally, as well as ensuring all packages are compiled with it. I'm hoping there is something i've missed that isn't too difficult to implement. Does anyone have any experience enabling playback of these files? |

Hi na641,
No way, I've tested several players too but no one can play HEVC-encoded files correctly
VLC player seems capable but lacks of an x265 flag (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=506322)
The only way I've found is to play videos through ffmpeg directly: the USE flag "sdl" enables a tiny player "/usr/bin/ffplay"
I haven't tested it, if you succeed let me know |

I've filed https://bugs.gentoo.org/521934 to remember to check H.265 content works with gstreamer eventually _________________ GNOME team lead; GStreamer; MIPS/ARM64 |
