No Man’s Sky: A Vast Game Crafted by Algorithms

I'm not a gamer, but this thing looks pretty cool (a shame about the platform).

I have a PS4 collecting dust right now... I'll definitely get this game.

I'm surprised there weren't more responses. I might look into a used PS4 if any are available.

Seriously. This game is a nerd's wet dream, and these forums are crawling with nerds.

Debuted in 2013, was a hit at 2014 E3. I just hope they can turn it into an actual product.

Looks like fun, sure. But we have no way of knowing if it's any fun yet. The two big reasons I'm even considering getting a ps4 this year is because Flower HD is already on it (and I'll get it free since I own the ps3 version), and Journey HD seems to be coming soon according to some leaks (ditto).

There's no way of knowing if anything is fun before trying it.

They don't seem like games. Flower looks like a demo of an engine, and Journey looks like a demo of game elements.

Journey's good. It's a simple game but very engrossing. Haven't tried flower.

Indeed, but in this case we don't really know how it is intended to play yet.

And yet, two of the best games I've played. An experience I've played several times, and would play again if I got a ps4.

++

It's hard to explain why those games are so good. Less of a game, and more of a nice experience.

From what I've seen, calling it an experience sounds more accurate than a game.

@arnvidr: The video of No Man's Sky shows some strong indications of how it is to be played. But again, that can be experienced when you try it. :P The video shows some standard gaming elements, so it seems like it will be part experience / part typical game. It appears to you could be an explorer, but also get yourself killed if you explore a hostile world. So if you go exploring with heavy arms, you might come out alive. It'll be interesting if they add other "realistic" elements like trade, etc. That could probably even be something added later.

Sure, don't get me wrong, I was very excited when I saw the video!
